Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18, NIV).
Today is a day of thanksgiving. As I approach my first book signing on Sunday afternoon, I am feeling especially grateful. The response I have received from friends, family, patients, and folks within my communities has been overwhelming. So much support, encouragement and love.
If I were to go back in time about 6 months, I would be on the heels of my very first introductory call with the person who would become my editor and eventually, my friend. The Lord has been so good to guide me throughout this entire process. With each step of faith, He continually opened the next door and asked me to walk through it. I didn’t always know what I would find on the other side, but it has been more than I could have even imagined.
Editors. Publishers. Photographers. Proofreaders. Bookkeepers. Designers. Hype men/women. Cheerleaders. Encouragers. Challengers. Prayer warriors.
I have been so blessed by the body of Christ. This project would not have been possible without the gifts, talents and support of so many people. It would be nearly impossible to thank everyone individually, and I wouldn’t want to miss anyone. Even the smallest contributions have made such a significant difference.
I love the verse from 1 Thessalonians 5 that says: Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. Each of the components of this scripture is so valuable.
Rejoice. Pray. Give thanks.
What would it look like for us to be intentional to do each of these daily?
When we center ourselves on joy, prayer and thanksgiving it changes everything. It may not remove our struggles, suffering or difficult circumstances, but it allows us to walk as children of God with a posture that is representative of the truth that we are valued and loved by the Creator.
