And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ (Philippians 1:6, ESV).
One Sunday morning I found myself deliberating whether or not I wanted to go to church. I’d had a busy few days, the weather was dreary, and I was feeling lazy. The comfort of my chair sounded better than the effort required to get myself dressed and ready for church.
After a little chat with the Lord, He motivated me enough to get out the door. Though I knew I needed to rest, I also recognized that my heart and soul always feels refreshed after spending time in worship, prayer, and community with others on Sunday mornings.
What I didn’t know realize is the Lord had a message waiting for me that day.
I always feel especially blessed by the time of worship at the beginning and end of service. This particular Sunday, the worship team began signing CeCe Winans popular song, Believe For It. Finding myself connecting with the Holy Spirit, and truthfully, needing a break from all the lights, I closed my eyes as I continued to sing.
The moment I closed my eyes, I immediately saw 4 dots, displayed similarly to what you see when a movie, book, etc ends with a “to be continued…” message. Simultaneously, I was singing along with the worship team to the following lyrics:
…You are the way When there seems to be no way (yes You are) We trust in You God You have the final say
Okay, Lord. I hear you. Thank you, Jesus.
I don’t know what frustrations you may be fighting right now. I don’t know what struggles you may be walking through. I don’t know what burdens you are bearing. But I can promise you that God’s not done writing your story. He has the final say.
Is there a dream in your heart that is still unfulfilled? Is there a fear you’ve been praying would relinquish it’s hold on you?Has life changed unexpectedly and you find yourself in a scary or unfamiliar place?
I get it. Me too. I want to encourage you today, just the way Jesus encouraged my heart that Sunday morning. The Lord knows, deeply, the desires of our hearts. Though He doesn’t always fulfill those desires in the way we may ask, we can choose to trust in Jesus, knowing that His will for our lives is always greater than anything we can imagine for ourselves.
Philippians 1:6 says: And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.
Continue to hold onto hope because of Jesus. Your story isn’t done, and thankfully, God is the author of your story. And He is the best writer of all time.
