Let Me Count the Ways

Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible” (Matthew 19:26, NIV).
I love the way God works, but, admittedly, I’m not always the most patient person when it comes to waiting on His ways. However, when I intentionally pause and look back over a period of time, I am always in awe to see how He has moved in my life.
Today is July 1. Many are celebrating because it’s the Friday of a holiday weekend. I am celebrating because this marks five years since The Narrow Path was born! Though I didn’t start posting regularly until a couple of years later, it was July 4, 2017, that I made my first official devotional post on my website. Time flies, and God is so good.
Q: How do you eat an elephant? A: One bite at a time.
I love this question because it reminds me of a biblical truth from Matthew 19:26 that guides my actions when I am facing a challenge or goal that seems too big: Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” Amen, friends.
This is my 100th published devotional. Wow! When I reflect over the last five years and look at how far the Lord has brought me, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually, since The Narrow Path first began, I am overwhelmed with gratitude. I am truly blown away by the goodness of God and how He moves in our lives “one bite at a time.”
Let me count the ways I am so grateful for how the Lord has shown me what “possible” looks like if we commit to walking with Him. Thank you, Jesus:
That I am the daughter of the One True King
For my wonderful, supportive family
For friends who love, support, and encourage me on my journey
That I am healthier than I’ve ever been
That I get to help people for a living
For a home that provides safety and comfort
That I get to write and share my words with others.
For a reliable vehicle
For a comfortable bed to find rest
For worship music
For sunshine
For praying friends
That I am the righteousness of God through Christ Jesus
That I am forgiven
For the breaking of me
For creating in me a pure heart
For grace that is freely extended
For love that is truly unconditional
For teaching me to see others how You see them
For the unique gifts and talents you’ve bestowed upon me
For sports and all the joy they bring to my life
That I am set apart for a unique purpose
For making me a twin
For walking with me in my darkest, most difficult moments
For setting me on the narrow path and guiding my footsteps
The list continues, but for the sake of brevity, I want to finish today by encouraging you to count some of the ways the Lord has been so gracious and kind in your life. We can often get so focused on the size of the challenges right in front of us that we forget to reflect on the goodness and faithfulness of God.
When something you’re facing seems impossible, remember that nothing is impossible with God. Take a moment, express gratitude, and push forward into anything the Lord is calling you to do.
